Job Description

Your team: Join the dynamic UK e-commerce team, a group dedicated to driving audience growth strategy across all commercial content verticals for both The Sun and The Times. We focus on defining and implementing multi-channel audience strategies, leveraging SEO, platform management, and generative AI search operations to drive traffic and commercial revenue.

Your role: You will play a pivotal part in shaping and delivering the audience growth strategy for two of the UK's biggest newsbrands. Collaborating closely with the SEO management team, you will champion multi-channel strategies—with a sharp focus on SEO, platform management, and generative AI search operations—to maximise traffic and revenue across both The Sun and The Times.

Day to day you will:

  • Drive distribution and audience growth strategies across Organic Search, Google Discover, Google News, Social Media, Newsletters, Push Notifications, and Internal Traffic.

  • Optimise commercial and seasonal content (such as Black Friday and Christmas) to align with algorithmic mechanics and user behaviours across different platforms.

  • Tailor content strategies to suit distinct readerships, balancing high-volume consumer shopping trends with high-intent, premium commercial recommendations.

  • Identify emerging shopping trends and keyword opportunities to provide editorial teams with structured plans that boost traffic and visibility.

  • Oversee daily operations and visibility across Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI answer engines, ensuring commercial content is accurately indexed and cited.

  • Test and deploy AI workflows and prompt tools to assist editorial teams with automated trend extraction, keyword research, and content refresh cycles.

  • Analyse traffic, conversion rates, and revenue performance via regular audits, translating data insights into actionable strategies for content creators and commercial leadership.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Practical experience in hands-on SEO and audience growth within a digital publishing, newsroom, or commercial media environment.

  • Proven background in managing diverse content distribution channels, including Google Discover, Social Media, Newsletters, and Organic Search.

  • Deep understanding of LLM tools and generative AI search engines, with the ability to optimise content for these emerging platforms.

  • Strong technical SEO foundation, including a solid grasp of Core Web Vitals and analytics tools such as Google Search Console, Google Trends, SEMrush, and GA4.

  • Keen commercial acumen, specifically an understanding of affiliate marketing dynamics, commercial user intent, and e-commerce growth tactics.

  • Adaptable communication style, enabling you to tailor SEO copy and headline strategies for both tabloid audiences and premium broadsheet readers.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner effectively across Editorial, Commercial, and Technical SEO teams to achieve shared growth objectives.

  • Familiarity with operating enterprise publishing systems like WordPress.
