Your team: The TV Mag team help ensure TV Mag has brilliant exclusive interviews, the best access to talent, and the lowdown on all the top TV shows in order to outshine all other TV magazines and supplements.
Your role: As Deputy Features Editor, you will play a pivotal role in driving our entertainment coverage, bringing brilliant exclusive interviews and fresh feature ideas to life. Reporting directly to the Features Editor, you will work closely with writers, PRs, and internal departments to produce market-leading previews and content every week. This is a 12-month maternity cover contract.
Day to day you will:

Liaise regularly with TV PRs and schedulers to keep on top of upcoming TV schedules and air dates.

Track new TV productions and coordinate with the Features Editor to secure early access.

Compile and edit crucial forward-planning documents, sharing key updates effectively across the editorial team.

Write vibrant, compelling copy for features, previews, and soap coverage to the highest editorial standards.

Commission and edit engaging features from internal journalists and freelance contributors.

Conduct high-profile interviews to secure exclusive, newsworthy lines that stand out from the competition.

Step up to lead the features team, manage content distribution, and oversee budgets in the Features Editor's absence.

Collaborate closely with cross-departmental teams, including TV Biz and TV online, while upholding legal and IPSO standards.
What we're looking for from you:

Expert knowledge of television shows, celebrity culture, and soaps, alongside a strong understanding of TV schedules.

Outstanding copy editing skills with precise attention to detail and a keen eye for house style.

Established networks and contacts with key PRs and talent agents across the media industry.

Broad background in writing across multiple formats, including real-life features, previews, and high-profile interviews.

Prior involvement in team leadership, with the confidence to guide permanent staff and casual contributors.
