Your team: Publishing Systems run the critical systems, applications and workflows that power the printing of News UK newspapers and magazines. Creating and distributing world-class journalism, news, sport, analysis and opinion, to entertain, inform and inspire our customers.

Your role: We are looking for a talented and passionate DevOps Engineer to join our team. This is an opportunity to join a diverse and dynamic team that is expanding. Day to day you will: 

• Modernise the deployment and development mechanisms of the team which has recently undergone a migration to move their services from a data centre into the AWS cloud.

• Adopt a “cloud first” mindset, building reliable and maintainable deployment pipelines, and following DevOps best practices.

• Focus on taking the POCs designed for these applications and turn them into a production-ready solution.

What we’re looking for from you: 

• Technical Proficiency: You possess a strong background in building and supporting solutions within cloud environments, specifically using tools like AWS, Terraform, Ansible, and CircleCI.

• Engineering Mindset: You demonstrate a passion for well-crafted, tested code and understand how to apply TDD and DevOps principles to complex architecture.

• Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in Agile workflows, leading by example to encourage peers and driving positive change through clear communication.

• Problem Solving: You are a self-motivator who takes ownership of technical challenges and proactively finds effective solutions.

• System Understanding: You have experience with troubleshooting multilayer application systems and understand the inner workings of Java-based applications.

• Continuous Learning: You show a keen interest in evolving your skills, perhaps bringing experience in Kubernetes, GitHub, or modern languages like Node and TypeScript
