Publishing Systems runs the critical systems, applications, and workflows that power the printing of News UK newspapers and magazines. We focus on creating and distributing world-class journalism, news, sport, analysis, and opinion to entertain, inform, and inspire our customers.
Your role:
As a DevOps Engineer, you will join a passionate, collaborative team to modernise development mechanisms and build solutions directly in the cloud. Reporting to the team lead, you will play an integral part in transitioning proof-of-concepts into production-ready platforms that support our world-famous media brands.
Day to day you will:

Modernise the deployment and development mechanisms of the team by adopting a cloud-first approach and following DevOps best practices.

Build reliable, modularised, and maintainable deployment pipelines to transition proof-of-concept designs into robust production-ready solutions.

Collaborate with cross-functional peers using agile methodologies to safely deploy and maintain systems.

Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure all team outputs align with high performance, security, and architectural standards.

Troubleshoot multilayer application systems to proactively identify solutions for complex technical issues.

Advocate for continuous improvement within the team, encouraging peers to elevate engineering standards.
What we're looking for from you:

Demonstrate a strong technical background in supporting and building cloud solutions, specifically utilising AWS infrastructure.

Utilize automation and CI/CD configuration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CircleCI, Kubernetes, or GitHub to optimize delivery pipelines.

Apply an understanding of modern programming languages, particularly Java ecosystem dynamics or scripting tools, to support backend workflows.

Engage proactively within agile frameworks, collaborating effectively during team ceremonies to drive projects forward.

Show a commitment to high-quality code standards by practicing test-driven development (TDD) methods.
